I’m Natalia Ortiz, a Cum Laude graduate of Syracuse University’s S.I. Newhouse School of Public Communications, where I studied Magazine, Newspaper, and Digital Journalism. Throughout my time at Syracuse, I contributed to multiple on-campus print publications and further strengthened my love for storytelling, a passion that ultimately led me to launch my own publication. Last year, I founded Delsol Magazine, where I served as Editor-in-Chief, overseeing the magazine’s creative direction, editorial vision, and production process from start to finish.

My professional experience also includes interning at Tarte Cosmetics in New York City through SU’s competitive Newhouse NYC program, where I worked within their Social Media Department alongside inspiring creatives and industry leaders. That experience not only expanded my skill set, but it reinforced what I value most: collaborating with driven, imaginative people and contributing to work that feels meaningful, fresh, and culturally relevant.

I was born and raised in San Juan, Puerto Rico, the place that shaped me in every way and sparked my love for writing long before it became my career. Puerto Rico is also where I learned my first language, Spanish, and where I continue to draw much of my inspiration from. At the heart of everything I do is a deep desire to honor my roots — to keep Puerto Rico at the forefront of my work and to make my family and my island proud through every story I tell and every project I build.

Throughout my career, I’ve had the privilege of contributing to publications in both Spanish and English, which has broadened my perspective and strengthened my voice as a journalist. Being bilingual allows me to connect with a wider audience, but more importantly, it helps me report with depth, nuance, and cultural understanding, bridging communities through language and storytelling.
